About Whispering Meadows Winery

In 2005, Bob and Karen Stobaugh established the Whispering Meadows Vineyards on twelve acres of the Schwarz Estates, a beautifuly rolling landscape dotted with ponds and ruffled by breezes. Bob and Douglas, the eldest son, selected both the Vinifera and French American hybrid grapes planted on the grounds. The whole family has been involved from the beginning, even Karen's parents and the Stobaugh's youngest son, Dylan.

Wine has long been a part of the Stobaugh's family heritage. Karen's grandmother Hulda, who stressed the medicinal values of wine, used to travel home to Germany for six months every year to work at the Schneider family winery. Living in Texas, Hulda's children and grandchildren grew up making "backyard wine." Whispering Meadows is continuing the tradition of a completely family-run vineyard and winery.
